Complaints
How to raise a complaint about our coverage, and what happens next.
Wine & Vintage publishes factual, verified journalism, and we want to hear from readers, producers and the trade when our coverage falls short of that standard. This page explains how to complain and how a complaint is handled.
How to complain
Send complaints through our contact page under the subject "General". Say which article the complaint concerns, what in it you say is wrong or unfair, and what evidence supports your complaint. Complaints about a factual error can also be sent as a correction report on the Corrections Policy page, where the report form asks for the correct information and where it can be verified.
How we handle a complaint
Every complaint is read and checked against the article and the sources behind it. If the complaint shows a substantive factual error, the article is corrected promptly, and a dated correction note is added at the foot of the article describing what changed. Minor typographical errors are fixed without a note. If new information materially changes a story, we update the article and note the update with its date. If a story's foundations prove unsound, we retract it with an explanation rather than quietly editing it away. Those commitments are the corrections policy's own, and they govern complaints as they govern correction reports.
What a complaint cannot do
A correction fixes the record; it does not renegotiate an article's conclusions. Disagreement with an assessment, a selection or a point of view is not, by itself, a factual error, and we do not rewrite coverage because a subject would prefer different coverage. Commercial relationships do not purchase coverage and do not purchase its removal.
Copyright complaints
Complaints that material on this site infringes copyright follow the takedown and counter-notice procedure on our Copyright & Takedowns page, not this page.
