Legal
Privacy Policy
Effective 23 September 2026. This policy describes our actual behavior, not a template.
Who we are
Wine & Vintage is an editorial publication of VAUDERIVE, the Swiss luxury group. Legal entity, registered address and data protection contact details are to be confirmed by the publisher; see the outstanding items noted below.
What we collect
We operate a static publication with no accounts and no analytics. That means:
- Reading the site sends us nothing beyond what every web server necessarily sees when you request a page (your IP address and request details in standard server logs, kept for security and operations).
- Consent choice. When you respond to the cookie banner, your choice is stored in your browser's local storage (key
wv-consent-v1, kept up to 12 months) so we do not ask again. This is strictly necessary storage. - Contacting us via the contact page opens your own email program; your message reaches us only if you send it, to the address shown. We use correspondence solely to respond.
- Search runs entirely in your browser against a downloaded index; your queries are not sent to us.
- Newsletter. Signing up for The Wine & Vintage Letter sends your email address to our newsletter provider (Kit) so we can send the newsletter you asked for. Every message carries an unsubscribe link.
What we do not do
- No analytics or measurement cookies or scripts.
- No advertising or remarketing pixels.
- No social media embeds or tracking widgets.
- No marketing list beyond the newsletter you explicitly sign up for; every newsletter message carries an unsubscribe link.
- Fonts are served from our own domain; we make no third-party font requests.
Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for the complete, actual inventory. Optional categories (analytics, functional, advertising) exist in the consent manager so any future technology is gated behind your consent; they currently gate nothing, because nothing optional is deployed.
Legal bases (EU/EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we process data on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating a secure publication (server logs), necessity to respond to correspondence you initiate (email), and consent where you grant it (optional cookie categories, currently unused).
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where necessary to operate the site (hosting provider) or where the law requires it.
Retention
Server logs are kept only as long as operationally necessary. Consent choices persist in your browser until you change them or they expire. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
International transfers
Our hosting infrastructure may process requests outside your country. Where EU/EEA data is involved, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards as required by law.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (EU/EEA, UK, California, Switzerland and others), you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent, as well as rights relating to the sale or sharing of personal information and to non-discrimination for exercising them. To exercise any right, contact us via the contact page under the subject "Privacy". We will verify your identity before responding, as the law requires.
Global Privacy Control
We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. If your browser sends a GPC signal and you have not yet set a cookie preference, we treat it as a rejection of all optional categories and we will not show the consent banner. You can change this at any time with the Cookie Settings button in the footer. We also honour GPC as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information, to the extent such processing occurs.
Children
This publication is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and our content is not directed at minors.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above.
