The Coravin Pivot+ is the stopper-based sibling of the needle-based Timeless systems. Instead of piercing the cork, the drinker pulls it, seats a reusable Pivot Stopper in the neck, and pours through the device: as wine leaves, pure argon gas replaces it, keeping oxygen away from what remains. Coravin states the bottle stays fresh for up to four weeks.
Because the stopper replaces the closure rather than working around it, the Pivot+ works with any bottle closure, natural cork, synthetic cork or screw cap, which the Timeless needle cannot do. Each 21 ml argon capsule pours up to twenty 150 ml glasses, and the system includes an aerator attachment that exposes the wine to air as it pours, waking up aromas that argon alone would leave sleeping.
