The Denk'Art Burgundy is Zalto's Burgundy glass, the piece that established the Austrian maker's reputation among sommeliers and collectors. It is a large bowl by any standard, at 960 ml, with a height of 230 mm that makes it one of the more imposing glasses on the table.
The geometry is the point. The broad bowl gives aged red wine the surface area it needs to aerate in the glass, while the tapered rim gathers the aromatics that Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo release as they open. It is designed around the way mature reds behave, not around the way new reds present.
In the cellar, this is the glass to reach for when the bottle is the evening's main event. Pour aged Burgundy, older Barolo or mature Rioja, give it time, and let the bowl do the work it was shaped for. The official Zalto shop lists the single glass at EUR 51.10 including VAT, and the line is current and orderable through zalto.shop.
